TOOLBOX IN ACTION

In action, not all green banks are the same! Green banks wear a variety of hats and play a series of active and supporting roles to encourage commercial motivation toward clean energy markets and increase residential access to green solutions.

Green banks can invest directly in clean energy projects:

It unlocks capital, but how does it drive clean energy adoption?

However, they also act as green market catalysts and invest indirectly in clean energy solutions.

For example, the bidirectional relationship between green banks and the deployment entities, commercial borrowers, CDFIs, residential borrowers, etc, demonstrates how green banks and traditional banks are different. A typical commercial banking institution would use that money to create profit and improve its bottom line, while a green bank recycles and crowds that money back into the transition.

Similarly, traditional banks build partnerships to improve their portfolio, however, green banks embrace a partnership approach to clean energy adoption because they use their toolbox to expand access and make deployment of these solutions possible in markets everywhere.
